HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team picked up a Gulf South Conference win on Sunday, easing past visiting Spring Hill 3-0 at Charger Park. UAH improves to 6-7-2 (3-6-1 GSC) with the victory, while SHC drops to 1-9-3 (1-8-1 GSC).

The scoring for the Chargers started early as Alexcia Alexander fired a shot from just in front, caroming it off the left post and in for the score in just the seventh minute of the contest to put UAH up 1-0 while giving the sophomore her eighth of the season. The game would remain 1-0 through the remainder of the opening period until another quick score to start the second half would make it 2-0.

Alexander earned the assist on the tally, playing it forward to Sydnie Fiocca who notched her fourth of the season in the 47th with a shot that was buried to the near post to give the Chargers the two-goal advantage.

Providing the team with insurance, Maddie Maurice drew a foul in the box in the 81st and then stepped up to the spot for a successful PK that created the 3-0 final.

Larae Breaux was strong in earning her fifth clean sheet of the season, posting six saves to move to a season total of 100.

For the contest, Spring Hill held a 12-9 advantage in shots, but UAH had seven that were on goal while the visiting side had the six. The Chargers also held the edge in corners, earning five to SHC's four.

Alexander was matched by Isabel Shanteau and Summer Mooney as all three had a pair of shots, and Alexander's two that were on target paced the home team.

UAH will now turn its attention to the regular season's final weekend, traveling to West Georgia on Friday before returning to Charger Park for the conference finale against Valdosta State on Sunday.
