ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team fell to Shorter in a GSC matchup on Friday night by a score of 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 22-25) in the first of three matches slated for this weekend. UAH dips to 16-9 (7-6 GSC), while Shorter improves to 11-7 (9-3 GSC).

Anna LeDuc shared the team lead with seven kills on Friday, while sophomore
Kirsten Giles had a team-high 26 assists. Freshman
Haley Hop anchored the defense with a game-high 16 digs.
Shorter led early in the first set 13-7 over UAH, but the Chargers were able to rebound and tie the contest at 13-13 with a 5-0 run. However, the Hawks quickly retook the lead and won 25-20 on a four-point rally.
SU won the following set in a similar fashion, as the Hawks led early before the Chargers tied the frame at 11-11 thanks to a 3-0 rally. Shorter followed the tie with key 4-0 and 3-0 runs en route to the 25-20 win in the second and a 2-0 match lead.
The Chargers battled again in the third and final set, tying the contest at 19-19 before the Hawks notched three of the final four points for the 25-22 win in the third and the 3-0 match victory.
UAH looks ahead to a pair of matches in Cleveland, Tennessee tomorrow, beginning with a GSC matchup against Lee at noon and ending with a non-conference contest against Trevecca Nazarene at 2 p.m.
