PHOTOSHUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team led for much of the contest, knocking off visiting Tuskegee by a 58-46 score on Friday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers move to 2-1 with the win, while TU slips to 1-3.

A pair of seniors led the way for UAH on the night as
Dina Saunders scored 15 on the strength of three 3-pointers, and
Halle Jarnagin recorded the team's first double-double of the season as she scored 14 while grabbing 12 rebounds with five coming on the offensive glass.

Chandler Elder dished out a team-best four assists, aiding the team's performance that recorded a stunning 16 assists on 17 baskets.

After building up a 20-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter, the Chargers went into the locker room leading 27-22 after holding the Golden Tigers to a shooting mark of just 28.6 percent in the opening half.

The Chargers then built up as much as a 10-point lead in the third and fourth quarters, but Tuskegee – paced on the evening by Rachel Brownlee's 20 – closed the gap to just four at 48-44 with 3:31 remaining in the contest.

A pair of free throws by Saunders followed by a key triple from
Loren Foster pushed the lead out to nine by the two-minute mark, however, as the Chargers outscored the visitors by a 10-2 clip in the waning moments to secure the win.

UAH was strong defensively, holding Tuskegee to a 30.4 field goal percentage while not allowing a 3-pointer in seven attempts, and the Chargers connected on 36.2 percent of their attempts with 11 of the successful buckets coming from 3-point land.

Winning the rebounding battle was Tuskegee who collected 41 to UAH's 40.

The Chargers will wrap-up the four-game homestand when Lane visits on Monday night. Tip-off inside Spragins Hall is slated for 5:30 p.m.
