MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The No. 10 University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team topped Tuskegee by a score of 11-1 on Tuesday afternoon in the first midweek matchup of the 2015 season. UAH improves to 4-0 on the year, with Tuskegee falling even to 3-3.

The Chargers offense – which scored 33 runs in the opening weekend – continued to swing the bat well against Tuskegee, as the squad held a 6-0 lead after the third inning.
Brandon Lawing kicked off the scoring effort with a sacrifice fly to drive in
Cody Burton, who led the frame off with a double.

UAH would break open the game in the top of the third with the bases loaded as
Chandler Brock ripped a double to clear the bases and give the Chargers a 4-0 lead.
Ben Hall drew a bases-loaded walk and
AJ Walden added a sac fly to make it 6-0 after the top of the third.

Mitchell Wright was spectacular on the bump for fifth-year head coach
Hunter Royer, totaling 4.0 innings of work and allowing one hit while fanning five. Wright did not issue a walk in his time on the mound.

The Blue and White added a trio of runs in the seventh on a RBI groundout by Lawing and a two-run homer by
Colton Simbeck, his second of the season.

Tuskegee was able to end the shutout as Clinton Crew lifted a sacrifice fly to bring in a run, which was tagged to UAH reliever
Hunter Skipper. UAH added two runs in the top of the ninth, before right-hander
Wilson Adams finished off the 11-1 victory with three strikeouts in the bottom half.
Dalton Goss was credited with the win to make him 1-0 on the season, after relieving Wright for 2.0 shutout innings with no hits, zero walks and two strikeouts.

The Chargers managed eight base hits on Tuesday, led by the leadoff hitter
Cody Burton who went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a walk. Lawing followed with two base hits and two RBI, while Brock and Simbeck tied with a game-high three RBI.

Next on the schedule for UAH baseball is the opening to Gulf South Conference play on Friday and Saturday when West Georgia visits Huntsville for a three-game set at Charger Park. First pitch slated for 1 p.m. both days, with a doubleheader scheduled for Friday.
