HEADING SOUTH: The No. 7 Chargers will head south on I-65 on Wednesday, travelling to take on first-year program Montevallo. UAH will carry a 21-5 record into the doubleheader that is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
Â
STREAKING: UAH is currently riding a season-best nine-game winning streak, and much of the success has been derived from strong pitching and defense. As a staff, UAH owns a 1.21 ERA during the span with both
Kimberly Jack and
Taylor Doriety featuring sub-1.00 ERAs at 0.45 and 0.57, respectively, and with the pitchers holding the opposition to a .209 batting average, the defense has also been strong, committing just five errors in 249 chances for a .980 fielding percentage.
Â
WEEKLY BEST: For her impressive performance last week that included a .786 batting average, three homers and eight RBI, Michal Robertston was honored as the GSC Player of the Week by the league on Tuesday. She becomes the second Charger to earn the honor this year as
Kaitlyn Bannister has also been tabbed as the league's weekly best.
Â
LEADING OFF: Victoria Frith has made a home for herself at the top of the UAH batting order, and she has shined there, reaching base safely in 23 of her 36 leadoff opportunities  for a team-best percentage of .639.
Â
IN THE CLUTCH: Two of UAH's top hitters also come through for the Chargers in clutch situations as
Brianna Sullivan leads the team with a .485 average with runners in scoring position, while
Kaitlyn Bannister owns a strong .422 mark in the same situation.
Â
ABOUT MONTEVALLO: The Falcons own a quite respectable 17-20 record in the program's first season, and the team is strong at home with a 9-4 record. Three of the team's wins have come against GSC opposition including a sweep of West Alabama and a victory against West Georgia.
Â
LEADING THE WAY: Freshman Kelsey Vining leads Montevallo with a .380 average, while Jessica Mentzer has driven in a team-high 22 runs. Jostlyn Higgerson paces Montevallo in the circle with 13 wins and 131 strikeouts, but the staff as a whole owns a 4.97 ERA.
