Box Score MEMPHIS | The No. 11 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team earned a series sweep with another run-rule shortened game, defeating host Christian Brothers 8-0 in five innings on Sunday. The Chargers – who officially clinched a spot in the Gulf South Conference tournament this weekend – move to 32-9 (19-6 GSC), while CBU falls to 9-35 (2-22 GSC).
 
UAH will return to action next weekend when Union visits for the final home conference weekend of the regular season.
 
Brianna Sullivan had a 3-for-4 day at the plate, helping the Chargers outhit CBU 11-2 on the day. Joining her with a multi-hit day, Kaitlyn Bannister had a pair.
 
That hitting performance backed up another strong showing from Tyler Harrison in the circle. The sophomore became the second Charger this season to record 10 wins in the circle as she tossed her eighth complete game and fourth shutout of the season, and she struck out four while allowing just the two hits.
 
The scoring for the Chargers started in the second inning when Sullivan drove in Victoria Frith who had walked earlier in the inning, and it became a 2-0 advantage when a throwing error on a Sullivan steal allowed Haley Thompson to score.
 
Another miscue by CBU allowed Victoria Crumpton to score in the fourth to make it a 3-0 lead before a five-run inning in the fifth allowed the Chargers to end the game early.
 
In that inning, Abby Roberts had a two-run double and Crumpton drove in a run before Thompson recorded her second homer of the season – a two-run no-doubter over the wall in center to make it 8-0.
 
Harrison then wrapped up the game with a perfect inning to secure her second shutout of the week after she no-hit Miles on Thursday.
