FLORENCE, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams completed a six game road swing Friday against in-state rival North Alabama, and the men fell 5-4 while the ladies suffered a 5-2 setback.

The men's squad falls to 5-7 on the season and 2-4 in GSC play, and the women slip to 7-8 and 4-3 in conference.

In men's doubles action, UAH was able to grab two out of three points with the Chargers' victories coming at positions No. 2 and 3, where
Jose Soto and
Elliot Hopson won 8-6 over Max Druppel and Taylor Ausbon, and
Nestor Perez and
Harrison Stone picked up an 8-5 victory.

Soto, fresh off a doubles victory, downed Guillaume Dechoz 6-1, 7-6 at No. 1 singles, while
Nestor Perez picked up the Chargers' fourth point with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 win at position two.Â

Hopson came up just short at No. 5, losing a three-set match to Ali Murad 5-7, 6-1, 7-6. UNA won the remaining singles matches, squeaking out the victory over the UAH.

On the women's side, the Chargers dropped two of three doubles matches, with UAH's win coming at position No. 2 where
Katie Bryant and
Cristina Cabanas were 8-6 winners.

In singles play, the Chargers' lone victory came at position two where Cabanas defeated Mayte Calmet 6-1, 7-5. Matches at No. 5 and 6 were stopped once the Lions' clinching wins were complete at positions No. 1 and 3.

Both teams will be back home to face GSC-foe Delta State Saturday. The women's match will begin at 10 a.m., while the men's match is slated for an early afternoon start.
