Mississippi College Defeats UAH in GSC Play Friday

CLINTON, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team fell on Friday by a 7-1 score at Mississippi College in the continuation of Gulf South Conference play. The Chargers slip to 3-4-1, 0-3-0 GSC, while the Choctaws improve to 6-0-1, 2-0-0 GSC.

The hosts would set the tone early, scoring in the 8th and 26th minutes to take a 2-0 lead, but UAH almost immediately cut its deficit in half as Niina Jetsu assisted on Sydney Pfankuch's strike just over a minute later in the 27th.

The goal marks Pfankuch's sixth of the season and moves the sophomore into a tie atop the UAH offensive ledger with 16 points.

The 2-1 score persisted into the second half, but the Choctaws would take complete control of the contest by scoring five times in the period.

Both Sydney Oliver and Jess Davenport scored a pair each for MC.

For the contest, the Choctaws held a 25-13 advantage in shots while also holding a 6-2 edge in corners.
