Box ScoreJACKSON, Tenn. | The UAH volleyball team dropped a Gulf South Conference matchup Union on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 18-25, 16-25) to wrap up the weekend schedule. The Chargers dip to 11-3, 2-3 GSC, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-7, 3-2 GSC.
UAH opened Saturday's match with a tightly contested 25-23 win in the first frame, with the Blue and White going on a decisive four-point run to overcome a 21-18 deficit and take a 22-21 lead. The two team traded points before
Alexis Deal and
Rachel Brugman sealed the 1-0 lead with back-to-back kills to end the frame.
Union bounced back to even the match at 1-1 after ending up on the winning end of a close set as the second frame ended in favor of the hosts by a 25-22 score. The Bulldogs dominated initially in the stanza, leading by 12-3 early before the Chargers went on a 4-0 rally to bring the score within three at 18-15. UAH reduced Union's lead to two points at 24-22 before UU won the set 25-22 on a kill by Christa Karns.
The Bulldogs controlled much of the following sets winning by scores of 25-18 and 25-16 in the third and fourth frames, respectively, to win Saturday's GSC contest.
Sophomore
Kirsten Giles had another successful night with 25 assists and 17 digs to improve her double-double streak to seven matches. Senior
Olivia Bauman led the attack with 10 kills, while fellow senior
Haley Snyder recorded a season-high eight total blocks from two block solos and six block assists.
The Chargers look ahead to a rivalry matchup against North Alabama on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Spragins Hall.
