CLINTON, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team held off Mississippi College on the road on Saturday, starting the new calendar year off with a 70-64 conference win. The Chargers improve to 9-3 (6-1 GSC), while MC slips to 4-5 (3-4 GSC).

Four Chargers ended the night in double figures with Seab Webster leading the way as the junior from Gurley scored 14, while Brandon Roberts added 13 to go along with four assists.

Matching Roberts with the four helpers and scoring 11 was Greg Gardner, and Justin Ward rounded out the leading scorers for the Chargers as the reigning GSC Player of the Week came off the bench to score 11.

UAH started off the contest strong and led by as many as eight points in the first half with Roberts scoring seven of his points in the period, but the stanza would feature three lead changes and four ties with the teams going into the locker room at the break deadlocked at 34-34.

The hosts would gain the lead just 1:31 into the second half going in front 37-36, but a 12-0 run for the Chargers put the visiting team up 48-37 at the 14:02 mark to establish the biggest lead of the night that UAH would enjoy.

Mississippi College – led by Tristan Moore's 18 – would continue to battle, however, narrowing the gap to just two twice down the stretch including at 62-60 with just under four minutes left in the game.

UAH then made six free throws around a Preston Herring dunk in the closing minutes to secure the win.

For the contest, it was UAH who held the advantage from the field, shooting 44.4 percent to Mississippi College's 41.5 percent, and the rebounding battle was an even one as both teams snagged 33 boards.
