CARROLLTON, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team dropped a 67-57 decision on the road Thursday night, falling to host West Georgia. The Chargers fall to 11-7 (8-6 Gulf South Conference) with the setback, while UWG moves to 4-16 (4-10 GSC).
 
Halle Jarnagin was impressive for the Chargers, going 8-for-11 from the field en route to scoring a team-best 22 points, and the Brentwood, Tennessee, native also paced the visitors with eight rebounds while adding a block and a steal.
 
Joining Jarnagin in double figures was 
Dina Saunders who chipped in with 15.
 
UAH jumped out to an early advantage, going in front by as many as nine in the first quarter with a 13-4 lead at the 3:32 mark, but the Wolves – led by Katrina Littlepage's 26 on the night – held UAH scoreless through the end of the quarter to take a 15-13 lead.
 
The Chargers then outscored the hosts 12-9 in the second quarter to take a slim 25-24 lead into the break, and though the contest would feature 15 lead changes and nine ties, an 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter would break the last deadlock and lift West Georgia to the win.
 
For the contest, UAH outshot the Wolves by a 41.2 percent to 37.0 percent clip, but an 11-6 difference in second-chance points and a 15-13 edge in bench production aided UWG in the victory.
 
On the glass, West Georgia also held a slim advantage, grabbing 34 rebounds compared to 33 for the Chargers.
 
The Wolves also earned 29 trips to the free throw line and made 23, while UAH was 9-for-14 at the stripe.
 
UAH will continue its four-game road trip on Saturday when the team travels to West Alabama for a 2 p.m. contest against the Tigers. Earlier this year in Huntsville, the Chargers were 72-63 winners over UWA.
