HUNTSVILLE | A buzzer-beating 3-pointer from
Brandon Roberts at the end of regulation helped lift The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team to a stunning 105-101 double overtime win over visiting Union on Saturday. The Chargers move to 10-4 (7-2 GSC) with victory, while Union slips to 11-4 (5-4 GSC).
Â
Turning Point
With the Chargers trailing 77-74 and Union possessing the ball, defensive specialist
Collin Langley picked off the inbounds pass and ultimately fed it to Roberts who buried the triple as the horn sounded to knot the contest at 77-77 and force the first of the two overtime periods.
Â
Individual Leaders

-
Michael Gilmore and

Inside the Flow
-Both Marterrace Brock and Brennan Bowling scored 11 points in the opening half to allow the visitors to lead 44-30 at the halftime break.
-Eight different Chargers – led by Gilmore and Webster who both scored nine – tallied points in the second half as UAH mounted its comeback.
-UAH trailed 74-68 with 1:33 left in the contest but then outscored Union 9-3 in the remaining moments of regulation to force overtime.
-Union also led by five at 88-83 with just 1:19 left in the first overtime period but Ward hit a 3-pointer and a defensive rebound by Herring started a series of events that sent him to the charity stripe where he sank both to tie the game at 88-88 and ultimately force the second extra five minutes.
-Back-to-back triples from Roberts to open up the second overtime gave UAH a six-point lead, and the Chargers never trailed in the frame en route to the win.
Â
Notable
-Saturday's win is the third straight thriller in the all-time series with Union as the teams also went to overtime last season in the GSC tournament semifinals as the Chargers prevailed 77-75 on their way to the title, and UAH also completed a stunning comeback when the teams last met in Huntsville, holding off a last-second try by the Bulldogs in a 75-74 win on Feb. 21, 2015.
