UAH Tripped Up Tuesday at West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team dropped Tuesday night's Gulf South Conference match at West Alabama by a final score of 3-1 (24-26, 18-25, 26-24, 20-25). UAH slips to 14-8 (7-5 GSC), while UWA improves to 13-11 (6-6 GSC).

Inside the Box Score
- Anna Claire Johnson led all UAH attackers with 12 kills while collecting a .226 hitting percentage.
- Anna LeDuc joined Johnson in double-digit kills with 11 successful swats to go along with a .269 hitting percentage.
- Kirsten Giles was the lone Charger to record a double-double in the match with a team-high 33 assists and 14 digs.
- Haley Hop followed Giles with 13 digs to rank second on the roster defensively.
- Isabelle Barnes paced the UAH defense with five total blocks.
 
Turning Points
- The Chargers started strong on Tuesday night as the squad owned a 19-13 lead late in the opening set. However, West Alabama notched late rallies of 5-0 and 4-0 en route to the 26-24 win.
- West Alabama carried its success into the second set, jumping out to 19-6 prior to earing the win in the frame 25-18.
- With UWA ahead 21-15 late in the third, UAH rallied for eight consecutive points with Hop serving to overtake the lead 23-21. UAH finished off the 26-24 win in the third scoring three of the last four points.
- After both sides were knotted at 19-19, West Alabama proceeded to notch six of the final seven points for the match clinching 25-20 victory in the fourth.
 
Noteworthy
- Giles has now recorded 15 double-doubles with digs and assists in 2016.
- Johnson has reached double-digit kills on 13 occasions this season.
- Barnes' five total blocks were a season-high for the freshman, as she previously registered four total blocks against both West Georgia (Sept. 13) and West Florida (Oct. 7).

- The Chargers return home to Spragins Hall to match up against Shorter on Friday at 6 p.m., prior to hosting Lee on Saturday at 2 p.m.
