HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team fell to Shorter in a Gulf South Conference matchup by a final score of 3-1 (29-31, 25-22, 22-25, 19-25) on Friday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH slips to 14-9 (7-6 GSC), while SU improves to 15-5 (10-2 GSC).

Anna Claire Johnson paced the UAH offense with 20 kills on a .279 hitting percentage, and she was joined by
Caroline Sanford in double-digit kills with 10.

- UAH started strong on Friday night, as the squad amassed an 18-10 lead late in the frame. However, Shorter would bounce back to tie the game 24-24 prior to taking the opening set 31-29.
- The Chargers were able to rebound in the second to tie the match after a 25-22 win in the second, utilizing a key 3-0 run late to extend their lead to 23-18.
- With the third set tied 22-22, Shorter notched a critical three-point rally to take the match lead on a 25-22 win.
- Two 3-0 runs and one 4-0 rally by the Hawks helped Shorter to the 25-19 match-clinching win in the fourth.

- Johnson's 20 kills were a season-high, besting her previous best of 18 kills against Florida Southern (Oct. 15).
- Giles has now topped 50 assists in a match two times this season, with the other being a 51 assist performance against Ouachita Baptist (Sept. 3).
- Hop has registered 18 or more digs in a match on eight occasions in 2016.
