HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team ended its slide on Friday night, earning a strong 3-1 win over visiting Valdosta State at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 15-14 (8-11 Gulf South Conference) with the victory, while VSU slips to 13-16 (9-10 GSC).

Turning Point
-After Valdosta State cut the home team's lead in half at 2-1 with a set win in the third and with the Blazers leading 23-22 in the fourth set, UAH scored three straight points to win 25-23 and seal the match.

Inside the Box Score
-The Chargers roared out of the gates, holding a .462 to -.034 advantage in hitting percentage en route to a lopsided 25-12 victory in the first set.
-Valdosta State pushed out to a 23-21 lead in the second set, but UAH eventually tied the contest at 24-24. The Blazers then scored the next point, but UAH would score the next three points to win 27-25 to go up 2-0.
-Fortunes reversed in the third set as it was UAH who enjoyed the late lead, going up 23-20 before VSU won seven of the next 13 points to win 27-25 in the frame and cut UAH's lead in half before the concluding set.
-Three Chargers finished the night with double figures in kills with
Anna Claire Johnson's 18 leading the way, and she was joined by
Rachel Brugman with 12 and
Anna LeDuc with 11.

Kirsten Giles dished out 52 assists on the evening.
-LeDuc registered a double-double in the contest as she added 11 digs.

Haley Hop paced the defensive effort as she scooped up 14 balls on the night.
-Three players recorded a team-best five blocks:

-The team hit .268 for the match with
Jordan Grammer leading the way at .615 on the strength of eight kills and no errors on 13 swings.
-VSU hit at a .214 clip on the evening.

-The victory marks UAH's first over Valdosta State since Oct. 12, 2012 when the Chargers also won 3-1 in the Rocket City.
-The 52 assists on the night for Giles marks a season-high and matches her career-best, and the junior now owns 981 on the season.
-The double-double for LeDuc is her seventh of the season.
-Grammer's hitting mark of .615 is her second-highest of the year, and it represents her best swinging percentage against a GSC opponent.
