HAPPY NEW YEAR: The No. 24 UAH men's basketball team will spend the holiday weekend on the road, traveling to West Florida for a 2 p.m. contest on New Year's Eve before venturing over to Valdosta State for a 7 p.m. CST contest on Monday. UAH enters the weekend at 6-3 overall and 2-1 in GSC play.

LAST TIME OUT: In the two games prior to the Christmas break, the Chargers fell 81-78 to West Georgia before bouncing back with a 75-57 win over West Alabama.
Seab Webster turned in another double-double – his fifth of the year – with a 20-point, 12-rebound showing in the win over UWA.

RANKINGS UPDATE: The Chargers slipped to No. 24 in the final NABC Top 25 poll released before Christmas, but the team remains the only Gulf South Conference school in the rankings. Fellow South Region institution Barry was ranked No. 12.

PERIMETER D: A year after ranking ninth in the league in 3-point field goal percentage defense by giving up a league-worst 328 3-pointers, the Chargers are presently second in the conference by allowing the opposition to connect on just 29.3 percent of its attempts.

CLEANING THE GLASS: Webster is presently ranked third in the league in rebounding with his 9.2 rebounds per game, but he paces the league and ranks fourth in the nation in defensive rebounds as he is averaging 8.3 per contest.

HIGH PERCENTAGES: The Chargers feature five players who are shooting better than 50 percent on the season including three with at least 30 attempts. Freshman
Malik Cook-Stroupe paces the team with a .581 shooting mark on the year as he is 18-for-31 overall.

ABOUT WEST FLORIDA: The Argos come into the weekend at 5-3 overall and 0-3 in league play, but two of the team's losses came in double overtime. UWF has four players scoring in double figures with Austin Sommerfield leading at 14.0 points per game, and Rashaan Benson is tied for the GSC lead in assists with an average of 4.9

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers own a 33-15 advantage all-time against West Florida after sweeping the two meetings a year ago. In Pensacola, UAH was a 74-65 winner in a game that saw Webster score 25 and grab six rebounds.

ABOUT VALDOSTA STATE: The Blazers – who play North Alabama on Saturday – enter this weekend at 7-2 with a 2-1 mark in conference play. The team is scoring a GSC-best 92.3 points per game, and six different players are scoring in double figures. Jeremiah Hill is at the top of that list with 16.7 points per contest.

SERIES HISTORY: VSU owns a slight 26-24 edge in the series between the two programs, but UAH won both games against the Blazers last season including a 102-96 overtime win in the Peach State. Webster scored 17 and grabbed nine rebounds as he was one of six Chargers who scored in double figures.
