PENSACOLA, Fla. | The UAH women's basketball team traveled to West Florida on New Year's Eve, falling 71-52 in its final game of the 2016 calendar year. The Chargers slip to 1-8 (0-4 Gulf South Conference), while UWF improves to 8-2 (3-1 GSC).

Turning Point
-After the Chargers had pulled within three at 55-52 with 7:26 left in the game, West Florida held UAH scoreless for the remainder of the game to secure the victory.

Inside the Box Score

Caroline Dodd led the Chargers in scoring on the afternoon as she hit three 3-pointers on her way to tallying 13 points in the game, and she also paced the guests on the glass as she had seven rebounds.
-Coming off the bench to join her Dodd in double figures was
Chandler Elder who scored 11, and she was also had a strong rebounding day as she grabbed six boards.
-Katie O'Neal paced West Florida with 20, while both Katie Bobos (14 points, 14 rebounds) and Toni Brewer (12 points, 12 rebounds) had double-doubles.
-The Argos outshot UAH on the day by a 45.5 percent to 31.7 percent clip, and UWF won the battle on the glass by a 43-34 margin.
-The UAH bench was strong in the contest, outscoring UWF's reserves by a 24-7 margin.

Inside the Flow
-West Florida jumped out to a big lead early, leading 16-2 just over five minutes into the contest, but the Chargers would close the first quarter on a 10-2 run to pull within six at 18-12 going into the second period.
-UAH would narrow the gap to just one at 20-19 with 6:31 left until halftime before the hosts would outscore the Chargers 7-2 over the next minute to regain a six-point lead at 27-21.
-The Chargers then used a 12-5 spurt over the next three minutes to take the lead for the first time in the game with an
Allie Bolton 3-pointer at the 2:22 mark putting UAH up 33-32, and the teams would go into the break at the half with UWF reclaiming the advantage at 37-35.
-The margin remained in single digits in the opening minutes of the third quarter until UWF would push its lead out to 10 on three separate occasions, but the Chargers would go on a 7-0 run to end the quarter down just three at 53-50.
-UWF then scored the opening points of the fourth quarter, and then Dodd scored her last points of the game to make it 55-52 before the Argos went on the 16-0 run to end the contest.

Noteworthy
-The contest marks the second time that Dodd paced the team in scoring this season as she also led UAH in the GSC opener at North Alabama on Dec. 4 when she scored 17.
-It is also the second time that Dodd has led UAH in rebounding this year.
