MEN'S BOX SCORECOLUMBUS, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams travelled to nationally-ranked Columbus State on Saturday as the women's team fell 7-2 to their eighth-ranked counterparts while the men's team fell 9-0 to No. 13 CSU. Both teams are now 0-3 on the year.

On the women's side, the Chargers started out in a 3-0 hole after Columbus State won all three points, but the team was able to get on the board thanks to strong play from the second and third positions in singles play.

At the No. 2 singles,
Sarah Stearman won 6-4, 6-4, while
Cristina Cabanas used a strong comeback to bounce back from a 4-6 loss to win 6-1, 11-9 and give UAH two points in the match against the top-10 team.

Naomi Esteve at the No. 5 position put up a good fight in falling 6-4, 6-2.

In men's play, the Chargers nearly came out of doubles play with a point as the No. 2 pairing of
Noah Pring and
Elliot Hopson fell in a strong battle by an 8-6 score, and Pring also played tough in singles action, falling 6-2, 7-5 at the fourth position.

Murilo Basso turned in a strong showing at the No. 2 singles, dropping a 6-3, 6-4 decision.

UAH will look to bounce back on Sunday when the teams welcome West Florida to the Rocket City to start Gulf South Conference play.
