Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 23 UAH Wins Ninth Straight with Victory at CBU

MEMPHIS | The No. 23 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team survived a late push by host Christian Brothers, winning its ninth straight game with a 76-70 victory on Thursday night. The Chargers improve to 20-5 (16-3 Gulf South Conference), while CBU falls to 11-15 (9-11 GSC).

The duo of Seab Webster and Brandon Roberts once again led the Chargers as Webster scored 23 points and 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the season, while Roberts scored 17 including a 3-pointer with just over three seconds left in the contest to ensure the victory for the Chargers.

Greg Gardner added nine points, nine rebounds, and six assists.

The Chargers scored seven of the first 10 points in the game on their way to leading through much of the opening 20 minutes including their largest advantage of the half which was six at 16-10 when Webster scored two of his 13 first half points at the 13:38 mark, and UAH would take a 38-33 lead into the halftime break.

The margin remained tilted in UAH's favor through the second half, and after the Chargers led by as many as 10 on three occasions, a 12-4 run over four minutes gave UAH its largest advantage of the contest at 62-50 with 10:34 left in the game.

CBU – led by Drew Hildreth and Jordan Miller who both scored 19 – then proceeded to whittle its deficit down to just three with under a minute left before Roberts hit the game-sealing trey.

For the contest, UAH shot 45.3 percent and knocked down 10 of its 24 3-point attempts, while CBU connected on 41.3 percent of its shots.

Behind the strong efforts of Webster and Gardner, the Chargers won the battle on the glass, outrebounding the Bucs by a 42-32 margin, and 12 of UAH's rebounds were on the offensive glass, leading to a 14-9 advantage in second chance points.

The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday when the team travels to Union for a 4 p.m. contest. UAH outlasted UU 105-101 in a double overtime thriller in the Rocket City on Jan. 9.
