MEMPHIS | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team won for the third straight time, claiming a 52-47 victory over host Christian Brothers on Thursday night. The Chargers improve to 14-10 (11-9 Gulf South Conference), while CBU falls to 10-14 (8-12 GSC).

Four Chargers scored in double figures with
Dina Saunders leading the way with 11 points, while each of
Chandler Elder,
Josi Saunders, and
Caroline Dodd scored 10.

Josi Saunders and Elder were also both strong on the glass as the two collected eight rebounds each, and
Dina Saunders dished out a team-best four assists.

After leading 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, the Chargers used a 6-0 run early in the second quarter to build up their largest lead of the opening half at 19-13 after one of three Dodd 3-pointers in half fell at the 8:34 mark, but the hosts would close the second quarter on a 14-7 run to take a 27-26 advantage into the half.

The lead for the Lady Bucs – who were led on the night by Rachel Lee who scored 13 – would grow to as many as four at 32-28 with 7:50 on the clock in the third, but the Chargers would then rip off a 15-3 run over nearly six minutes to go ahead 43-35 en route to holding a 46-40 lead at the end of three quarters.

For the contest, the Chargers shot 40.0 percent, and a defensive effort that limited CBU to a shooting mark of 24.1 percent and just 20 points in the final two quarters held the Lady Bucs to an overall shooting mark of 30.4 percent in the game.

The Lady Bucs did, however, win the battle on the glass but by just a slim 35-34 margin.

The Chargers will play their final regular season road game on Saturday when they travel to No. 11 Union for a 2 p.m. contest. UAH dropped a tight 89-85 decision to UU when the two teams met on Jan. 9.
