BACK ON THE ROAD: The No. 2 UAH softball team returns to Gulf South Conference play this weekend as the team travels to West Georgia for a three-game set which starts with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and concludes with a single game at noon on Sunday. The Chargers carry a 16-2 (6-0 GSC) record into the weekend and is currently on a 13-game winning streak.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK: UAH extended the winning streak to its present 13 games by picking up five wins a week ago as the team swept a doubleheader from visiting Truman before turning around to win all three games against GSC foe Lee to remain perfect in conference play.

AROUND THE GSC: The Chargers are tied with two other teams at the top of the standings after two weekends of conference action as both Shorter and Delta State are also 6-0, while three teams – Valdosta State, North Alabama, and West Florida – are all tied for fourth at 4-2.

CIRCLE SUCCESS: Junior pitcher Tyler Harrison continued her strong start to the 2016 campaign last weekend by picking up three more wins to move to 9-2 on the year. The Mobile, Alabama, native has recorded 65 strikeouts and just 12 walks in her 60 innings pitched this season.

PATIENT APPROACH: UAH is by far the best team at drawing walks to this point in the year, earning 114 free passes, while Valdosta State is the next closest with 81. The Chargers feature six of the top 10 individually in walks with Savannah Smith leading the team and ranking second in the GSC with 19.

RALLY TIME: The Chargers also comfortably lead the conference in both runs and RBI, logging 148 and 131, respectively, on the season. Smith is leading the Chargers with 27 runs scored, while she is tied with Kaitlyn Bannister with 22 runs driven in.

ABOUT THE WOLVES: West Georgia enters the weekend at 11-4 (3-3 GSC) and is 6-1 in Carrollton. Molly Uhrman leads the team with a strong .467 average at the dish, while Jordan Corbin owns a team-best 17 RBI. In the circle, Katie Shultes is 5-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 29 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 63-8 all-time against West Georgia, and the team took all three meetings last year against the Wolves by sweeping a three-game set in Huntsville by outscoring UWG 24-4.
