A NEW ERA: The UAH Department of Athletics announced Dec. 2, 2014 the addition of men's and women's lacrosse, increasing the amount of varsity sports to 18. The Chargers will compete at Charger Park, an immaculate on-campus facility that also houses the University's men's and women's soccer programs along with baseball and softball.

PIONEERING THE GSC: The Chargers will compete within the Gulf South Conference for its first-ever season sponsoring the sport, with the program playing alongside Montevallo, Shorter and Young Harris. UAH was predicted to finish third in the league in the preseason coaches' poll in a tie with Montevallo, as Young Harris was selected first and Shorter was prognosticated to finish second.

PAVING THE WAY: Guided by head coach
Gail Wallach, UAH will begin its season with a roster of 22 players from a collection of 11 states, including five student-athletes from the state of Alabama.
Megan Hart and
Nicole Federovitch were featured on the GSC Offensive Player of the Year watch list prior to the season, while
Sierra Luciano and
Emily Wiegand earned nods for the GSC Defensive Player of the Year watch list.

FALCONS PROFILE: Montevallo won its inaugural game this past weekend at home against Point by a final score of 12-8, with Maddie Ellis pacing the offense with a five-goal performance. Defensively, Irfana Ahmed played the majority of the contest in net, totaling eight goals allowed and 11 saves.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Chargers will continue their four-game road swing to start the 2016 season with trips to Rockhurst (Feb. 20), Lindenwood-Belleville (Feb. 21), and Shorter (Feb. 24). UAH opens its home slate on Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. against Indianapolis.
