WINGATE, N.C. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team dropped its contest on Wednesday night, falling 13-3 at Wingate. The Chargers slip to 1-4 on the year, while the Bulldogs improve to 5-5.

UAH will return to action on Saturday when the team is back in action at Charger Park, welcoming Colorado State Pueblo for a noon contest.

The hosts opened the scoring at the 8:02 mark of the first quarter, but the Chargers had an almost immediate answer, scoring just over a minute later when
Kevin Coppinger scored his fifth of the year with 7:00 left in the opening stanza.

The Bulldogs, however, scored seven straight before
Quincy Ward scored with just under a minute left in the second quarter to produce an 8-2 score at the halftime break.

The score marked the sixth of the season for Ward.

Four more goals from Wingate made it a 12-2 game, but Daniel Wilson – who fired off a team-best five shots on the night – got the Chargers back on the board with 5:30 left in the contest, matching Ward for the team-lead in goals as he also has now recorded six on the year.

James Cox assisted on the goal to push his assist total on the year to four.

Wingate would add an additional goal to create the 13-3 final.

In the contest, Wingate outshot UAH 46-18 while also holding a 44-40 advantage in ground balls. In clear attempts, the Bulldogs were 19-for-21 compared to a 14-for-19 showing from the Chargers.

Colton Nall led the visitors with eight ground balls.
