CLEVELAND, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's tennis team split a pair of Gulf South Conference matches this weekend, earning a 6-3 victory over Christian Brothers on Saturday before falling 8-1 to Delta State on Sunday. UAH moves to 2-6 (1-2 GSC) on the season.

The Chargers will return to action on Thursday when the team hosts North Alabama in the Rocket City.

The Chargers built up a 2-1 advantage after doubles play thanks to strong showings from the second-position pairing of
Elliot Hopson and
Noah Pring and the No. 3 duo of
Harrison Stone and
Rodrigo Palomino as both sets won 8-1.

That momentum carried over into singles action as UAH won each of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles contests by 6-0, 6-0 scores with Palomino, Pring, Stone, and
Arthur Menezes earning the dominating victories to lift the Chargers to the win.

The performance in singles by that quartet were the strongest of the season as they represented the first 6-0, 6-0 wins this year.

Delta State 8, UAH 1Â
UAH fell behind 3-0 after doubles play, but the Chargers certainly challenged as Stone and Palomino fell by a narrow 8-6 margin at the third position while Hopson and Pring were tripped up by a 9-8 decision.

Palomino was also a tough out in singles play, dropping a close 7-5, 7-6 match at the third spot, Menezes also battled strong at the sixth position in falling 6-7, 6-2, 10-3.
