HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-14 decision to visiting Ohio Valley on Wednesday afternoon at Charger Park. The Chargers slip to 1-2 on the season, while Ohio Valley improves to 1-2.

Daniel Wilson, Jr. and
Quincy Ward paced the team offensively in the setback as both recorded three goals in the game, and the pair continues to lead the team in scoring as both moved their season goal total to five.

Ward also racked up a team-best seven ground balls while additionally causing four turnovers.

Also owning a big day was Colin Wilcox who scored twice and added three assists to move into a tied with Wilson in the point column for the Chargers with six on the season.

Kevin Coppinger and
Jack Bishop also both scored twice.

The Chargers led 3-2 after the first quarter and built up a 5-2 lead by the 12:11 mark of the second, but the visitors scored three straight to level the contest en route to UAH holding an 8-7 at the break lead as Ward and Bishop scored in the final minute of the period.

UAH then scored three of the first four goals of the third quarter, but the Fighting Scots then outscored the hosts by a 9-3 margin through the remainder of the contest en route to the 17-14 victory.

Shots in the game were even at 42-42, but Ohio Valley had a 28-25 edge in shots that were on goal. In clear attempts, UAH was 18-for-20 and the guests were 10-for-12, while the Fighting Scots collected 37 grounds balls to 34 for the Chargers.

Ohio Valley finished the game 0-for-5 with the extra man, and UAH was 1-for-4 in those opportunities.

The Chargers are now off until March 21 when the teams travels to Salisbury, North Carolina, to face Catawba.
