Breaux Posts Shutout as UAH Earns 1-0 Win at Montevallo

POSTGAME REACTION
MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team picked up its second straight win, earning a solid 1-0 shutout victory on the road at Montevallo on Thursday night. UAH improves to 2-1-0 on the year, while UM slips to 1-1-0.
 
Turning Point
-After notching her first two collegiate points in UAH's win over Carson-Newman on Tuesday, freshman Arieal Alexander recorded her first collegiate goal in the 59th minute for the only score in the contest. Picking up the assist on the score was senior Melody Hoernschemeyer.
 
Inside the Box Score
-UAH outshot the Falcons in the contest by an 11-8 margin including a 7-4 edge in the second half.
-Shots on goal in the game were even as both teams had five attempts on frame.
-Larae Breaux made five saves in the contest en route to logging her first shutout of her junior campaign.
-Both teams earned two corners in match with each of the four corners being earned in the opening 45 minutes.
-Four players – Sydney Pfankuch, Hannah Oglesby, Hoernschemeyer and Alexander – led UAH with two shots each.
 
Noteworthy
-Breaux now owns six career shutouts after posting five last year, and the Carencro, Louisana, native now has been a part of a total of eight shutouts in her three seasons in Huntsville.
-Alexcia Alexander – who was the GSC Freshman of the Year in her first season and tied for the team lead with eight goals last year – saw her first action of the year, entering the game in the 30th minute and immediately providing a spark as she had a strong shot attempt that went just wide.
 
Next Time Out
-UAH returns home to continue its five home games in six games stretch to start the year as the Chargers welcome Tusculum to Charger Park on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
