CLEVELAND, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fell at Delta State on Saturday, dropping a 64-53 decision. The Chargers slip to 2-12 (1-8 Gulf South Conference), while DSU improves to 7-7 (4-5 GSC).

Turning Point
-After UAH narrowed what had been a 15-point deficit in the second half to just six with 2:54 left in the game, the Lady Statesmen went on a 8-2 run over the next minute and a half to earn the victory.

Caroline Dodd hit three 3-pointers on the afternoon en route to scoring a team-best 13 points, and she was also a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line.
-Logging a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds was
Chandler Elder who also added a pair of assists in the contest.
-Delta State was paced by Alondrea Rush who scored 18, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out seven assists.
-For the contest, Delta State outshot the visitors by a 39.6 percent to 37.2 percent clip, and the Lady Statesmen also held a slight edge on the glass, collecting 32 boards to UAH's 30.

-UAH led in the game's opening minutes, going in front by five at 9-4 after a
Loren Foster jumper fell at the 4:59 mark of the opening quarter, but Delta State responded with a 7-0 run over just under three minutes on its way to taking a 13-10 lead into the second quarter.
-Though the advantage for DSU would balloon to double figures at 26-16 with 1:54 left until the break, the Chargers would put together a 7-0 run of their own to end the period going into the locker room down by just three at 26-23.
-After UAH's
Katie Speegle scored the first basket of the third quarter, Delta State would go on a 19-5 run to establish its largest lead of the game at 45-30 with 2:09 on the clock, and the Lady Statesmen would hold a 47-35 advantage going into the fourth.
-UAH would close the gap to single-digits on three occasions in the opening minutes of the fourth stanza, and after DSU went back ahead by 11 at the 4:35 mark, the Chargers scored five straight to make it a two-possession game at 55-49 with 2:54 remaining after Elder completed an old-fashioned 3-point play.
-UAH would be unable to pull any closer though as Delta State scored eight of the next 10 points to go back in front 63-51 to effectively seal the contest with less than half a minute left in the contest.

Noteworthy
-The double-double is the third of the year for Elder, and it represents her third in the team's past five games with each of the outings being 10-point, 12-rebound performances.
-Dodd has now scored in double figures in consecutive games, and she has been the team's leading scorer in four games this season.
