HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team picked up a home conference victory on Thursday night, defeating Delta State 77-62 at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 3-14 (2-10 Gulf South Conference), while DSU slips to 7-10 (4-8 GSC).

Turning Point
-With the game tied at 35-35 and just over two minutes gone in the third quarter, the Chargers went on a 15-5 run spurred by eight points from
Loren Foster to go up for double digits while gaining a lead the team would not relinquish the rest of the contest.

Inside the Box Score

Loren Foster went 7-for-11 from the field, knocked down three 3-pointers, and was 4-for-4 at the charity stripe on her way to scoring a game-high 21 points while also collecting six rebounds for good measure.
-In total five Chargers scored in double figures with
Morgan Tipton earning a start and scoring 16 and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds and leading the team with four assists, and she was joined by
Chandler Elder who scored 14 and
Baylee Johnson and
Allie Bolton who both chipped in with 10.
-Alondrea Rush led Delta State with 20 points in the game.
-For the contest, UAH shot a terrific 59.5 percent from the floor, connecting on 22 of its 37 attempts to score 77 against a Delta State team that entered the night allowing just 58.6 points per game, and the Chargers turned in an impressive defensive effort that limited DSU to a 32.8 field goal percentage.
-The Chargers also held a strong 38-26 advantage on the glass with five players collecting at least five rebounds in the game.
-UAH earned 35 trips to the free throw line and knocked down 28 with Elder going 10-for-13 at the stripe.

Inside the Flow
-The Chargers scored the first bucket of the game and by the 6:16 mark of the first quarter owned an 8-4 lead, and after Delta State tied the contest at 8-8, the home team would go on a 10-2 run over a span of more than three minutes to go ahead 18-10 with 56 seconds left in the period.
-By the end of the stanza, Delta State had trimmed the UAH advantage to four at 20-16, and with 3:10 left in the second, the visitors had gone in front 25-24, starting a series of four lead changes and four ties that would send the teams into the locker room at the break tied at 31-31.
-With the game tied at 35-35 just over two minutes into the third quarter, the Chargers would go on a 15-5 run behind eight points from Foster and a 3-for-4 stretch from beyond the arc to take a 50-40 lead with 2:07 left in the quarter, and the advantage grew to 54-43 as the game went into the fourth frame.
-The lead then grew to 16 at 61-46 with 7:47 left in the game, and though the Lady Statesmen would cut the deficit to nine with a 10-3 run that made it 64-55 at the 1:40 mark, the Chargers then went 13-for-15 from the charity stripe in the waning moments to secure the victory.

Noteworthy
-Foster's 21-point showing establishes a new single-game career high for the junior, besting her previous mark of 18 which she did twice including this year at Trevecca Nazarene on Dec. 12.
-Tipton also sets a personal best in scoring with the 16 points, as she also previously had a career-best night against TNU on Dec. 12 when she scored 13.
-The 59.5 percent shooting performance for the Chargers marks the second-best of the year and the highest in Spragins Hall, and it is the best since the team connected on 51.9 percent of its tries against North Alabama on Dec. 4.
-Both the 35 free throw attempts and the 28 successful freebies represent season highs for the team.
