UAH Victorious on Senior Day at Spragins to Wrap Regular Season

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a Senior Day win at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall over Gulf South Conference opponent West Alabama by a score of 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon. UAH improves to 23-11 (11-5 GSC), while UWA dips to 19-13 (11-5 GSC).
 
Turning Point
- After UWA cut the UAH lead to 2-1 with a 25-23 win in the third set, the Chargers jumped out to a 6-0 to start the fourth stanza on the way to the 25-21 win in the set to seal the Senior Day victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Senior Anna Claire Johnson had a career day as the led the UAH attack with 22 kills and a .357 hitting percentage during the four-set win while also chipping in two assists, one service ace and three digs.
- Johnson was followed offensively by Anna LeDuc and Caroline Sanford with eight kills apiece to rate tied for second on the roster.
- The Chargers had a pair anchor the defense, paced by junior Haley Hop with a team-high 25 digs and senior Kerri Whittaker who followed Hop closely with 23 scoops.
- Senior Kirsten Giles notched a team-best 39 assists to go along with eight digs and three service aces.
- UAH totaled 11 service aces, led by LeDuc with four.
- Sanford led the Chargers defense at the net with five total blocks, followed by LeDuc with four.
