FLORENCE, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team made it a perfect weekend, winning 64-52 over Kentucky State on Saturday at North Alabama. The Chargers improve to 2-0, while KSU slips to 0-2.

Turning Point
-After KSU had pulled to within five at 56-51 with 2:52 remaining in the contest, the Chargers used eight free throws to outscore the Thorobrettes 8-1 in the waning moments to lock up the victory.

Inside the Box Score
-Baylee Johnson was terrific for the Chargers as she went 10-for-17 from the field including three 3-pointers on her way to scoring 28 points, and she added four rebounds, two assists, and two steals for good measure.
-Also scoring in double digits for UAH was Loren Foster who knocked down three triples and scored 14 while handing out a team-best three assists.
-UAH was led in rebounding on the afternoon by Chandler Elder who grabbed nine, while Morgan Tipton snagged eight to help the Chargers win the battle on the glass by a 42-38 margin.
-The defensive effort from UAH led to Kentucky State not having a player reach double figures in scoring as Brittani Rizzi paced her team with nine.
-For the game, UAH shot 39.2 percent from the floor, while KSU was held to a shooting mark of 30.6 percent.

Inside the Flow
-Kentucky State jumped out to a 5-0 lead and eventually led by as many as six at 9-3 with 5:43 left in the first quarter, but the Chargers closed the period on an 11-4 run to go up 14-13 heading into the second.
-The Thorobrettes briefly regained the lead at the start of the second quarter, but UAH would outscore Kentucky State 18-12 in the period to go up 32-25 at the halftime break.
-In the third with the score tilted 36-31 in UAH's favor, Johnson had a stretch where she scored eight straight for the Chargers in the third quarter, turning a five-point lead for UAH into a 13-point advantage at 44-31 with 5:20 remaining in the period, and the team would enjoy that same margin at 51-38 at the end of the frame.
-A jumper from Emme Willoughby at the 8:37 mark of the fourth quarter put the Chargers ahead 53-40, but an 11-3 run over the next six minutes allowed KSU to pull within the aforementioned difference of five before the strong showing at the charity stripe sealed it for UAH.

Noteworthy
-The 28-point showing from Johnson represents a career-best mark for the junior, and it is the best single-game performance by a Charger since Dina Saunders scored 32 on Jan. 11, 2016 against Christian Brothers.

-UAH will step back out of regular season action on Monday to travel to Division I member Tennessee Martin for a contest that counts as an exhibition for the Chargers. Tip-off in the Volunteer State is slated for 5:30 p.m.
