HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team picked up a big win on Wednesday night, knocking off previously undefeated Clark Atlanta 91-64 at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 5-1 on the season, while the Panthers drop to 5-1.

Turning Point
-After the guests had trimmed UAH's advantage to single digits with just under five minutes remaining in the contest, the Chargers went on a 14-3 run over the next 3:15 to gain their largest lead of the night at 77-57 with 1:36 left in the game.

Inside the Box Score
-Four players scored in double figures for the Chargers including Justin Ward who paced the team once more as the senior logged a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Malik Cook-Stroupe was just two rebounds shy of matching the feat as he scored 19 on a strong 7-for-8 shooting night while also grabbing eight boards.
-Tanner Finley hit three 3-pointers to chip in with 11 while Sam Orf added 10 on a 5-of-6 showing from the floor to round out UAH's double-figure scorers.
-Cook-Stroupe also handed out a team-best three assists while also collecting three steals.
-Strong defensively was Kip Owens who swatted away a team-high three Clark Atlanta shots, and the senior also grabbed five rebounds on the defensive end.
-The Panthers were led by Austin Donaldson and Damien Davis who both scored 14.
-For the game, UAH shot 51.7 percent overall with the visitors connecting on 35.3 percent of their attempts including a 1-for-21 performance from beyond the arc.
-The Chargers won the battle on the glass by a 42-41 margin.

Inside the Flow
-The Chargers led nearly wire-to-wire, going up just over two minutes into the contest after the Panthers had opened the scoring in the game, and a 15-4 run over just under seven minutes allowed UAH to go ahead by 14 at 26-12 at the 7:11 mark of the opening half.
-A 9-0 spurt for UAH that was punctuated by an Owens dunk gave the Blue and White a 35-19 advantage with just over three minutes left until the half, and CAU would close the period on a 6-2 run to narrow the gap back down to 15 at 37-22 going into the halftime break.
-The Panthers started the second half by outscoring the Chargers 12-6 over the first six minutes to pull back within single digits at 43-34, but UAH had an 18-8 run answer to go back up by 19 after a Cook-Stroupe triple put the Chargers in front 61-42 at the 8:32 mark.
-Making the contest interesting, Clark Atlanta responded with a 12-2 run that made it a nine-point game before the strong finish for the Chargers put the game out of reach.

Noteworthy
-The double-double for Ward is his second of the season, and the New Market, Alabama, native extended his 20-point scoring streak to five games.
-Cook-Stroupe has scored in double figures now in four of the team's six games, and he currently ranks second on the squad with a scoring average of 11.8 points per game.
-The three blocks from Owens is a single-game high for a Charger this year, while the three steals by Cook-Stroupe also matches a single-game high by a UAH player this season.
