HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team opened up the 2017 season on Saturday, falling 16-9 to visiting North Greenville at Charger Park. UAH starts the season at 0-1, while NGU begins at 1-0.

Turning Point
-After UAH outscored the guests 6-1 to start the third quarter to turn a seven-goal deficit into just a 9-7 difference, North Greenville went on a 7-2 run to end the game to seal the victory.

-UAH was led on the day by a pair of freshmen as
Bryant Baus had three goals and an assist for a four-point day, while
Jack Utrevis matched that goal total with three.

Kevin Coppinger also had a multi-point day with a goal and two assists, while
Luke LeVette scored and assisted on another for a two-point debut.
-The other UAH goal came from Cox.

Colton Nall and
Jordan Robertson paced the team with four ground balls.

Kyle Siersma started the game in the cage for the Chargers, earning the setback in his collegiate debut.
-Austin Dixon and Jake Foster both scored five times for the guests.
-NGU won 19 face-offs compared to nine for the Chargers, and the Crusaders were 11-for-11 in clear attempts while UAH was 13-for-20.

Inside the Flow
-NGU opened the scoring with a goal from Foster with 7:36 left in the first quarter, and though Utrevis would make it a 1-1 game late in the period, the visitors would score twice more to take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter after which they would own an 8-1 advantage.
-UAH had the first five goals of the third including a man-up goal from Baus, and after North Greenville scored to make it 9-5, Utrevis and Baus would tally to pull UAH within two at 9-7 at the 4:41 mark of the third quarter.
-NGU then went on the strong run to finish the game with LeVette's man-up score and a strike from Baus serving as UAH's only other goals in the game.

-Coppinger – who led the team in scoring last season – now has recorded multiple points in nine of his 12 career games.

-The Chargers will return to action a week from Saturday on Feb. 18 when the team travels to Lincoln Memorial for a 12 p.m. contest.
