Chargers Take Series Finale 10-2 over Spring Hill

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team won the series finale over Spring Hill in a rain-shortened, seven-inning contest by a final score of 10-2 at Charger Park on Sunday afternoon. UAH improves to 2-5, while SHC slips to 2-5.
 
Game Changer
- Trey Mathis delivered a pair of run scoring singles in both the first and second innings to lead the Chargers to the 10-2 win, as he turned in a 2-for-4 performance at the dish with three RBI.
 
Inside the Box Score
- The Chargers quickly jumped on the Badgers with two runs in both the first and second innings, highlighted by Mathis' trio of RBI in the initial two innings.
- Freshman Zach Duvall then gave UAH a 7-0 lead after clearing a bases-loaded situation with a double to left to notch three RBI on the play in the bottom of the third.
- Spring Hill ended UAH starting pitcher Riley Camp's shutout bid with one run in the fifth on a groundout, which the Chargers negated in the bottom half the frame on a RBI double by Justin Ware.
- The visitors plated their second run of the game in the sixth, prior to UAH bringing the game to its 10-2 final in the bottom of the sixth with both Cory Price and Wright Hackett recording RBI in the stanza.
- Will Scoggins pitched to just two batters in the top of the seventh before the game was called due to heavy rain.
- Camp improves to 1-0 on the mound after tossing 6.0 innings with five hits, two runs and five strikeouts.
- The Chargers totaled 10 hits in the game, paced by Ware, Duvall and Mathis with two apiece.

- Mathis and Duvall set a season-high with three RBI each in the victory.
- Price set a single game season-best for UAH with three walks in the contest.
- The Chargers 10 runs in the game were the most through seven games in 2017.
 
Next Time Out
- UAH looks ahead to the start of Gulf South Conference play next weekend with a trip to Lee for a three game series on Saturday and Sunday. First pitch for the series-opening doubleheader next Saturday is slated for 1 p.m., while the series finale next Sunday has a noon first pitch.
