Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 23 UAH Stumbles at CBU on Thursday

MEMPHIS | A furious comeback effort came up just short on the road on Thursday night for the No. 23 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team as the Chargers dropped a tough 94-92 contest at Christian Brothers. UAH slips to 20-7 (16-5 Gulf South Conference), while the Bucs improve to 16-11 (13-8 GSC).

Turning Point
-A 19-2 run over nearly five minutes late in the second half turned what was an eight-point advantage for UAH into an 88-79 lead for CBU with 2:52 remaining, and the Bucs then withstood a last-minute comeback bid from the Chargers to hang on for the victory.

Inside the Box Score
-Seab Webster was once again terrific for the Chargers as the reigning GSC Player of the Week knocked down 11 shots including five 3-pointers on his way to scoring 36 points. The senior also grabbed nine rebounds, dished out three assists, and had a steal and a block.
-Webster was joined in double figures by Brandon Roberts who was 7-for-10 from the floor while scoring 19 along with collecting five boards.
-Rounding out UAH's top scorers, Chayse Elliott came off the bench to score 15, and Troy Saxton added 11 points, seven rebounds, and a team-high six assists.
-CBU was paced on the night by both Alex Trentman and Adam Dieball who both scored 24 and grabbed 11 rebounds.
-For the contest, both teams shot an identical 49.2 percent from the floor, and the Bucs connected on 18 3-pointers with the Chargers hitting 13 treys on the night.
-The Bucs outrebounded UAH on the night, grabbing 37 rebounds to UAH's 29.

Inside the Flow
-Christian Brothers led through much of the first half including by 10 points on three difference occasions, but after the home team went up 34-24 at the 7:57 mark, the Chargers would close the period on a 22-6 run with Webster scoring 18 of his 22 first-half points during that stretch to put UAH ahead 46-40 at the break.
-After the Bucs quickly pulled within two at 48-46 at the 18:20 mark, the visitors went on a 13-3 stretch over a span of nearly four minutes to go up by 12 at 61-49.
-The home team responded with a 14-4 run over the next four minutes to cut it to 65-63 at the 10:29 mark, but a 12-6 run for the Chargers over the next 2:46 pushed the UAH advantage out to 77-69.
-The 19-2 CBU run then created the 88-79 advantage for the Bucs, and though the Chargers would narrow the gap to two at 94-92 with 14 seconds to go and get the ball back with the same deficit, a contested-last second try for UAH would not fall.

Noteworthy
-Webster's 36-point showing is his third 30-point performance of the year and fourth of his career, and it represents his second-best scoring night as it was two off of his 38-point outing against Union.
-Elliott had missed the previous three games and returned with his fourth-best showing of the season.

Next Time Out
-The Chargers will close out the regular season portion of the 2016-17 slate on Saturday when they venture to Union for a 4 p.m. tilt. UAH won a 111-109 thriller in overtime back on Jan. 7 in the Rocket City.
