HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team opened a three-game Gulf South Conference series with a doubleheader sweep of West Georgia by scores of 8-5 and 2-1 at Charger Park on Saturday afternoon. UAH improves to 7-7 (3-2 GSC), while UWG slips to 5-7 (0-5 GSC).

Brady Bedingfield highlighted the series-opening victory on Saturday, as he went 2-for-3 with one run scored and a key bases-loaded, three-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh which led UAH to the 8-5 win.

- UAH was first on the board as
Ben Rhodes lifted a sac fly to drive in
Justin Ware from second, but West Georgia was able to gain the lead at 2-1 with a pair of runs in the third.
- The Chargers retook the lead at 3-2 on a two-RBI single to left by redshirt junior
AJ Walden.
- A successful sac fly by West Georgia in the fifth drew the game to a 3-3 tie, but the Chargers pushed forward to lead 6-3 on Bedingfield's bases-clearing, three-RBI double to right-center in the bottom of the seventh.
- The Chargers added two more runs in the eighth on RBI singles in the eighth by
Nolan Ramsey and
Wright Hackett in the eighth, before one run came in for the Wolves in the ninth for the 8-5 final.

Gabe Gunter earned the win, improving to 1-1 on the season with 3.1 innings with zero earned runs and four strikeouts out of the bullpen.

Jake Bracewell made the start for UAH, turning in 5.0 innings pitched with two strikeouts and three runs allowed.
- UAH totaled 14 base hits in the game-one victory, led by
Trey Mathis and Hackett with three hits each.
