TO THE SUNSHINE STATE: The No. 23 UAH softball team will continue its busy slate to start the 2017 season as it travels to Florida to take on a trio of Sunshine State Conference opponents, taking on Nova Southeastern at 4 p.m. CST on Thursday, Lynn at 11 a.m. CST on Friday, and Barry at noon CST on Saturday. The Chargers go into the road trip at 5-1 on the year.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK: UAH went 5-1 at the Gulf Coast Invitational including a pair of wins over nationally-ranked teams in No. 8 North Georgia and No. 22 Missouri-St. Louis. Four of the runs came in run-rule shortened style as the team averaged 9.5 runs per game during the event.

GLOVER DEALING: Senior pitcher
Emily Glover went 3-0 in the circle last weekend while registering a 1.91 ERA, and she struck out a GSC-best 22 batters in just 14.2 innings pitched. Additionally, the opposition batted just .189 off the Scottsboro, Alabama, native.

RUN PRODUCERS: Ten different Chargers have already recorded multiple RBI in the early season, and the team is led by reigning GSC Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Bannister who drove in a conference-leading 13 in the six games at the GCI.

LEADING OFF: Haley Thompson has led off for the Chargers in the first six games, and from that position in the order she leads both UAH and the GSC in runs scored with 12 after she scored a career-best three times in three different games in the season's opening weekend.

ABOUT NOVA SOUTHEASTERN: The Sharks are 0-5 after opening the season at the Florida Tech First Pitch Classic. Dakota Villella is batting a team-best .429 with three RBI, while Erica Winter leads in the circle with a 3.50 ERA.

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers lead the all-time series with the Sharks by a 9-2 mark, and the two programs last met on Feb. 12, 2015, when the two teams split a doubleheader in the Rocket City.

ABOUT LYYN: The Fighting Knights started the season off at 1-3 after dropping three of four games against GSC opposition. Leanne Wright leads the team offensively with a .400 average and a team-high four RBI, and Francis Olexa has been strong in the circle for LU with an 0.48 ERA in a team-high 14.2 innings pitched.

ABOUT BARRY: The Bucs were also at the GCI, going 3-3 for the weekend. With a .500 batting average, Cheyanne Head sits atop the offensive ledger for Barry, while Christie Falcon has a 2.63 ERA to go along with 11 strikeouts on the year.
