LOOKING BACK: The Chargers – who played their inaugural season in 2016 – posted a 14-4 overall record and a 2-1 record in the Gulf South Conference last year, while reaching the GSC Invitational Championship game against Young Harris in the league's first year sponsoring women's lacrosse. UAH garnered a trio of All-GSC honorees in Nicole Federovitch, Megan Hartnett and Natalie Pachinger for their performance during the season.

PRESEASON POLLING: UAH was voted second in the GSC Preseason Coaches' Poll released earlier this week, with the squad notching two first-place nods in the vote. Young Harris led the way in the poll with three first-place votes, followed by UAH in second, Shorter in third, Montevallo in fourth and Lee in fifth.

SCORING SUCCESS: The Chargers finished the 2016 season as the NCAA scoring champion, after amassing 16.33 goals per game in the 18-game slate. UAH was led by 2016 GSC Freshman of the Year Nicole Federovitch with 85 points on 74 goals and 11 assists, which was followed by fellow All-GSC honoree Natalie Pachinger with 72 points from 57 goals and 15 assists. Overall, the Blue & White totaled 294 goals which included 13 games with 16 goals or more in 2016.

HOME COOKING: After notching three wins and an average of 17 goals per game at Charger Park last season, the Chargers will host a total of nine games in 2017 beginning this weekend against Oklahoma Baptist. Following this Friday's home opener, UAH will play two league games on the road at Shorter on Feb. 15 and Young Harris on Feb. 18 before returning home to play GSC opponent Montevallo on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m.

INCOMING CHARGERS: Second-year head coach Gail Wallach enters the year with 13 incoming players, including 12 freshmen, with 18 Chargers returning from the 2016 squad. Two of Wallach's newcomers were named to the GSC Player of the Year watch lists, as junior Alanna Carvalho received a nod for the defensive list while freshman Jenna Carr was named to the offensive list.

BISON PROFILE: Oklahoma Baptist is set for its season opener at UAH on Friday after posting a 4-7 overall record and a 2-5 record on the road last season. The Bison offense was paced by Alexis Martin with 45 points from 39 goals and six assists in 2016, while returning goalie Caity Cullison registered a 16.24 goals against average and a .143 save percentage in three appearances.
