HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams welcomed Bellarmine on Friday with the men's team winning in an 8-1 rout while the ladies fell by a tight 5-4 score. The men improve to 5-8 with the victory, while the women's squad falls to 4-8.

The tone for the men's contest started with a sweep of the doubles points, though they were hotly contested. UAH earned its first point of the match when
Harrison Stone and
Timo Christen won 8-5 at the third, and that was followed up by an 8-6 win at the second from
Elliot Hopson and
Sebastian Rohrbach and a 9-8 victory from
Brodie Holmes and
Chris Miller at the top.

In singles action, Rohrbach put the Chargers on the brink of victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the second spot, and Hopson sealed the match when he won 6-0, 6-2 at the third.

Other points for the Chargers came from Christen who won 6-4, 6-3,
Rodrigo Palomino who was a 6-2, 6-1 winner, and
Guilherme Coleta who triumphed 6-0, 6-0.

In the women's game, UAH started out with a 2-1 lead after doubles as
Sarah Stearman and
Aniek Remmerswaal teamed up for an 8-6 victory at the top position while
Cristina Cabanas and
Monika Polakovic won 8-2 at the third.

Bellarmine, however, captured four of the singles points to edge the Chargers.

Point for the Chargers in singles came from Cabanas who won 6-2, 6-4 at the second and Stearman who was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at the fifth.
