TO THE COAST: The No. 14 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team steps back into conference play this weekend on the road, traveling to West Florida for a three-game set that starts with a 1 p.m. doubleheader and concludes with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Chargers enter the weekend at 17-6 overall and 7-2 in the Gulf South Conference.
 
MONDAY CANCELLED: The Chargers were slated to also face Spring Hill on this trip, but that doubleheader originally slated for Monday has now been cancelled.
 
POLL UPDATE: UAH climbed again in the national poll this week, moving up two spots to No. 14 in the NFCA Division II Top 25. Other representatives from the GSC in the rankings include No. 5 Valdosta State and 21st-ranked North Alabama.
 
RECAPPING LAST WEEK: The Chargers cruised to a weekend sweep of Christian Brothers, outscoring the Bucs 28-3, and the team then returned home for a two-game set with Florida Tech which the Chargers split by winning 7-1 on Monday before falling 2-1 on Tuesday.
 
CIRCLE DOMINANCE: UAH has continued to receive superb pitching with the staff owning a 1.43 ERA which leads the GSC and is the seventh-best mark in the country. Individually, Emily Glover is 21st in Division II with 72, while Tyler Harrison is 34th in the nation with 62 strikeouts on the year.
 
AMONG THE BEST: National Player of the Year candidate Kaitlyn Bannister also ranks among the top players in Division II as she is second in hits, fifth in total bases, 10th in batting average, 16th in doubles, and 19th in RBI.
 
ABOUT WEST FLORIDA: The Argos enter play this weekend at 14-8 on the year but owners of a 2-7 mark in conference play while holding a 6-4 record in home games. Meghan Toney is batting a team-best .477 with Kathleen Smiley leading the squad with 19 RBI, and Becca Taylor has seven wins in the circle and leads UWF with 42 strikeouts.
 
SERIES HISTORY: UAH took the regular season series last by winning two of three games in the Rocket City, but West Florida won in the conference tournament to make the all-time series tilted in UAH's favor by a 61-45 margin. The two teams last met in Pensacola in 2015, and the Chargers swept all three games in that series.
