LAKELAND, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams took on Florida Southern on Tuesday with both teams falling 7-2 to the host Mocs. The UAH men slip to 5-9 on the year, while the women drop to 4-9.

In the women's contest against the 33rd-ranked hosts, the Chargers battled in the setback that was much closer than the final score would indicate.

In doubles play, the Chargers earned one of their points as the second pairing of
Marleen Gort and
Naomi Esteve won 9-8, while the top duo of
Sarah Stearman and
Aniek Remmerswaal fought strong in a 9-8 setback.

When the match transitioned to singles play, UAH picked up its other point when Gort won 4-6, 7-5, 7-6, and her victory was in one of three matches that would go to three sets.

At the fourth position, Stearman fell 6-3 in the opener and then won the middle set 7-5 before falling 6-4 in the decider, while
Monika Polakovic won 6-1 in the opening set at the sixth spot before falling 6-1, 10-4.

In the men's game against the 40th-ranked Mocs, UAH picked up both of its points in doubles play as the second pair of
Sebastian Rohrbach and
Elliot Hopson won 8-5 while the No. 3 grouping of
Timo Christen and
Harrison Stone won 8-4.

In singles action, Rohrbach and
Guilherme Coleta turned in the best showings as both took seven games from the opposition falling 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-4, respectively.

The men's team will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to No. 32 Rollins.
