HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team fell in a tight contest on Tuesday afternoon at Charger Park, dropping a 10-9 decision to visiting Adams State. The Chargers slip to 3-6 with the setback, while the Grizzlies improve to 3-2.

Turning Point
-After pulling to within one with a goal in the last minute of the third quarter, the visitors scored three straight to open the fourth quarter on their way to a 10-8 lead that the Chargers would be unable to overcome.

Kevin Coppinger had a big day for the Chargers as he scored three times, picked up an assist, and collected five ground balls while also causing a turnover.

Michl McNeil took the loss in the cage for the Chargers as he made 11 saves, and he also paced the team with seven ground balls.
-The Chargers outshot Adams State by a 46-35 margin including a 27-21 edge in shots that were on target, and UAH also held a 29-28 advantage in ground balls on the afternoon.
-In clear attempts, the Grizzlies were 14-for-20, while UAH was 13-for-19.

-After Adams State scored the game's first goal, Zois and Coppinger scored a minute apart to put the Chargers up 2-1 at the 6:23 mark of the opening quarter.
-The Grizzlies would briefly tie the game at 2-2 with a goal with 5:31 on the clock, but a four-goal spurt for the hosts would be started by a Wilson, Jr., score just 19 seconds later, ultimately giving UAH a 6-2 lead when Coppinger scored his second with 13:52 left until the half.
-The guests then closed the second quarter with three consecutive to cut the UAH lead to 6-5 by the break.
-The teams then traded goals to open the third with Utrevis scoring, followed by a Grizzlies goal, and then a man-up strike from Baus to put UAH in front 8-6 before the strong push from the guests provided them with a 10-8 lead by the 11:48 mark of the fourth quarter.
-Coppinger made it a one-goal game with 4:08 remaining with his third goal, and though the Chargers would outshoot Adams State 5-2 in the final minutes, the tying goal unfortunately could not be found.

-Coppinger scored in his fifth straight game, and the program's all-time scoring leader has 12 goals during that stretch including a pair of three-goal performances and a four-goal showing.
-McNeil has recorded double figures in saves now in five games on the year including in five of the last six contests.

-The Chargers will be off until March 31 when the team travels to Elkins, West Virginia, to face Davis & Elkins. That contest is slated for a 3 p.m. CDT start.
