HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team completed the three-game Gulf South Conference series sweep over Shorter by a final score of 19-9 in eight innings on Saturday afternoon at Charger Park. UAH improves to 14-15 (9-9 GSC), while SU dips to 16-13 (6-12 GSC).

Game-Changer
- With UAH trailing Shorter 9-3 heading into the bottom half of the sixth, the Chargers proceeded to turn the tables with a nine-run rally in the sixth to own an 11-9 advantage en route to the 19-9 sweep-clinching victory.

Inside the Box Score
- After a
Trey Mathis sacrifice fly in the first which scored
Justin Ware to give UAH a 1-0 lead, Shorter plated a total of three runs – including two homers – in the top of the second to overtake the Chargers with a 3-1 advantage.
- UAH slimmed the Hawks lead to 3-2 on a solo home run to left by
AJ Walden, but Shorter again responded with three runs in the top of the fourth to push the lead to 6-2.
- The hosts added another run in the fifth on a
Wright Hackett RBI groundout, with Shorter quickly negating that run in the fifth in addition to another two runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-3.
-The Chargers erupted in the bottom half of the sixth with a season-best nine run rally – highlighted by a three-run homer by
Tanner Burns, a grand slam by Walden and a solo shot by Mathis – to put the Blue & White in front 11-9.
- UAH again rallied in the bottom of the seventh with six runs in the frame, as
Jay Copeland, Mathis,
Lance Cleveland,
Tanner Burns and
Ben Rhodes collected RBI during the rally.
- Copeland's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth made it a 19-9 final with the GSC mercy rule in effect.
- UAH totaled 22 base hits in the victory, led by
Nolan Ramsey, Burns and Copeland with four apiece.
- Walden led the offense with five RBI, followed by Burns with four. Both Mathis and Copeland had three RBI as well.
- Cleveland scored a game-high four runs scored.

Harper Case earned the win in 2.1 innings of relief with one run allowed and three strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Will Scoggins made the start on the mound, turning in 4.0 innings with five earned runs allowed, one walk and five strikeouts.

Noteworthy
- The Chargers 19 runs were the most in a game this season, and the most since scoring a program-record 30 runs against Tuskegee on Feb. 14 last season.
- UAH set season-highs as a team in hits (22), RBI (18) and homers (4).
- UAH is now riding a four-game win streak.
