BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team advanced to its third straight VisitSpaceCoast.com Gulf South Conference Championship title game with an 85-67 victory over Delta State on Saturday night at the Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University. UAH improves to 23-7 on the year, while DSU slips to 22-8.

The second-seeded Chargers will take on top-seeded Valdosta State on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN 3.

-UAH found itself down 34-33 at the half, but the Chargers then outscored Delta State 52-33 in the second half including a 9-0 run late in the game that iced the contest for the Chargers by turning a 10-point advantage with 3:53 left into an insurmountable 19-point edge at 81-62 by the 1:40 mark.

Inside the Box Score
-The Chargers had five players score in double figures in the contest led by
Brandon Roberts who poured in 18 on the strength of a 7-for-12 night from the floor, while
Troy Saxton was 6-for-9 and scored 17 while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists.

Michael Gilmore matched Saxton's 17-point performance, and the senior was on fire from beyond the arc as he knocked down five 3-pointers – four of which came in the second half when he scored 14 of his 17.

Justin Ward came off the bench and scored 12 – all of which came in the first half – and Webster rounded out the double-figure contingent with 10 while also grabbing a team-best eight boards and handing out five assists.
-The Statesmen were led in the game by Devin Schmidt who scored 21.
-For the game, UAH shot a strong 54.4 percent from the floor including a 12-for-28 showing from 3-point land, while Delta State shot 50.0 percent but had just six 3-pointers.
-Delta State won the rebounding battle by a 27-25 margin.
-UAH took advantage of 15 DSU turnovers and outscored the Statesmen 20-6 on points off turnovers.

-Gilmore matched his season-best with the 17 points, and he established a new career-high in 3-pointers with the five.
-Webster established a new career-best with the five assists.
-The team moves to 12-1 on the year on Saturdays, and the Chargers are now 13-0 when shooting better than 50 percent from the floor.
