UAH Falls on the Road at Lees-McRae

BOONE, N.C. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team fell in a road contest on Saturday, dropping a 14-11 decision to host Lees-McRae. The Chargers slip to 1-3 on the year, while LMC improves to 2-3.
 
Turning Point
-After the Chargers pulled within one at 8-7 at the 8:51 mark of the third quarter, the Bobcats scored five straight to open up a 13-7 lead with 7:30 left in the fourth quarter.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Bryant Baus paced the Chargers with three goals on the afternoon, while Collin Wilcox matched his three-point day with a pair of goals and an assist.
-Luke LeVette also scored twice for UAH, while Adam Zois, James Cox, Jake Fowler, and Daniel Wilson, Jr., all added a goal each.
-Michl McNeil made 14 saves in the cage for UAH.
-Lees-McRae outshot the guests by a 44-36 margin including holding a 28-24 edge in shots on goal.
-UAH was 18-for-22 in clears, while LMC was 22-for-23.
-The Chargers picked out 32 ground balls compared to 24 for the Bobcats, and Jake Fowler led UAH with eight on the day.
-Fowler was also strong in faceoffs, winning 17 of 27.
 
Inside the Flow
-Scoring was limited in the opening quarter after which Lees-McRae was ahead 2-1, and the lead grew to 4-1 after the hosts scored the first two goals of the second.
-Baus and Wilcox then scored the next two goals to pull back within one at 4-3, but the Bobcats scored two of the final three goals in the period to lead 6-4 at the half.
-After LMC went ahead 8-4 to start the third, Baus scored twice and Cox added another to make the deficit just one at 8-7 before the five straight goals for the home team provided it with an insurmountable advantage.
 
Noteworthy
-The Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday in Huntsville when the squad welcomes Chowan for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
