HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams welcomed Delta State on Saturday, and the women's team won 5-2 while the men's team suffered a 5-2 setback. On the year now the ladies are 4-6 (2-2 Gulf South Conference), while the gentlemen are 4-6 (0-3 GSC).

On the women's side, the Chargers led 2-1 after doubles action as
Marleen Gort and
Naomi Esteve teamed up for an 8-4 win at the second with
Cristina Cabanas and
Monika Polakovic winning easily 8-1 at the third.

In singles play, Gort won after she was up 6-0, 2-1 when her opponent retired at the No. 1, and Cabanas was a 7-6, 6-2 winner at the second spot. The match was then sealed by
Aniek Remmerswaal who was a 6-2, 6-0 victor at the fourth position.

Sarah Stearman was up 6-2 and
Marta Briega led 3-0 when the teams agreed to end the match early with the Chargers having already captured the fifth and decisive point.

In the men's contest, UAH left doubles play trailing 2-1 with the one point coming from the top pairing of
Sebastian Rohrbach and
Timo Christen winning 8-6, and in singles play, the Chargers victory came at the third position where Rohrbach was a 6-1, 6-4 winner.

Both teams will be back in action on Sunday when Valdosta State visits Huntsville. The matches are slated for a 12 p.m. start.
