HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams fell to nationally-ranked Valdosta State on Sunday with the men falling 7-2 to the fifth-ranked Blazers in a match that was much closer than the score indicates while the women fell 8-1 to the No. 14 Lady Blazers.

The men fall to 4-7 (0-4 GSC), while the women's team slips to 4-7 (2-3 GSC).

UAH fell behind 2-1 after doubles with the one point coming from
Brodie Holmes and
Rodrigo Palomino who were 8-5 winners.

In singles play,
Timo Christen secured the other point for the Chargers by winning 2-6, 6-0, 6-4, but the team had several chances to earn additional points as
Guilherme Coleta fell in three after winning the first set 7-5 before falling 6-4, 6-4 in the next sets at the fifth spot, while the No. 3 match saw
Elliot Hopson be tripped up 6-4, 4-6, 12-10.

In the women's contest, the Chargers dropped all three doubles matches by 8-3 scores, and when play transitioned to singles action,
Marta Briega was able to win the team's lone point as at the sixth position she was a 7-5, 6-2 winner.

Naomi Esteve put up a strong battle at the third, falling 6-3, 6-4.

The men will be back in action on Thursday against Southern Indiana, while both teams will face Bellarmine on Friday.
