FLORENCE, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team split the Gulf South Conference series-opening doubleheader on Saturday with a 12-2 loss in the opener and a 4-2 victory – including a record-setting performance by left-hander
Will Myers – in the night cap. UAH moves to 15-17 (10-10 GSC), while UNA stands at 19-14 (12-8 GSC).

Game-Changer
- With UAH leading 2-1 after two full at North Alabama, the Lions proceeded to rally for six runs in the bottom of the sixth – highlighted by a grand slam by Peyton Sockwell – on the way to the 12-2 series-opening win in seven innings.

- The Chargers were first on the board in the opener on Saturday as
Ben Rhodes put the squad up 1-0 on a solo home run in the top of the first.
- UNA rebounded with one run in the bottom half of the first to knot the game at 1-1, but UAH pulled ahead in the top of the second when
Nolan Ramsey scored on an error by UNA's second baseman.
- The Lions proceeded to push across six runs in the bottom of the third to turn the tables and lead the Chargers 7-2, prior to the hosts adding to their lead with a trio of runs in the bottom of the fourth to push the advantage to 10-2.
- North Alabama would add an additional two runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring the game to its 12-2 final as the Lions notched the seven-inning win.

Riley Camp started on the mound for the Chargers, taking the loss to dip his season record to 3-3 after hurling 3.0 innings with seven runs allowed – one earned – and three strikeouts.
Noteworthy
- This loss snaps the Chargers six-game win streak over the Lions, dating back to an 11-3 win over UNA in Florence on March 29, 2015.
- Rhodes home run was his fourth of the season, which matches his career high set in the 2016 campaign.

Will Myers made the difference in game two on Saturday, as the southpaw registered a program-record 15 strikeouts over the full 7.0 innings with two runs allowed en route to the 4-2 victory.

Justin Ware with a two-RBI single in the top of the first.
- UNA slimmed the UAH lead to 2-1 with one run in the fourth, but the Chargers responded with two runs in the top of the fifth as
Brady Bedingfield scored on an error and Ware drove in
Wright Hackett on a sac fly to center.
- The Lions chipped into the Chargers lead again in the bottom half of the fifth to bring the game to its 4-2 final, before Myers finished off his record-setting performance.

Noteworthy
- A Philadelphia, Mississippi, native, Myers topped the program record of 13 strikeouts which was notched three times in the team's lore, most recently by Myers himself against Union last season on April 23.
- Myers struck out the side three times – including the victory-clinching bottom of the seventh – and also had two strikeouts in two frames.
- Myers owns a team-high 61 strikeouts now, which rate third in the GSC.
- This is the second time this season Myers has had 10 or more strikeouts, and he has five such performances in his career with the Chargers.
