ROME, Ga. | Head coach
Paul Thomson earned his 200th career victory, and both of The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams picked up 6-3 wins on the road at Shorter on Saturday. The women's team improves to 6-10 (4-3 Gulf South Conference), while the men move to 6-12 (1-5 GSC).

In the women's match, the Chargers swept the doubles points starting with a big 8-2 win at the third position by the pairing of
Cristina Cabanas and
Monika Polakovic. The top pairing of
Sarah Stearman and
Aniek Remmerswaal won 8-6, and UAH went up 3-0 in the match with a 9-8 victory from
Marleen Gort and
Naomi Esteve at the second spot.

In singles play, Gort won 6-0, 6-2 from the top position before Shorter earned two points to make it 4-2, but the match would be sealed for the Chargers when
Marta Briega won 6-0, 6-0 at the sixth position.

Giving UAH its sixth point, Esteve at the fifth spot was a 6-2, 6-7, 10-4 winner.

On the men's side, the Chargers went up 2-1 after doubles with victories coming from the third pairing of
Noah Pring and
Timo Christen and the second duo of
Sebastian Rohrbach and
Elliot Hopson.

UAH then had an easy go at it in singles play from the third position down to pick up the victory.

Both
Rodrigo Palominos at the fifth and
Guilherme Coleta at the sixth only surrendered one game in winning 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1, respectively, while Hopson was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at the fourth.

Rohrbach also won in singles, picking up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the third spot.

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday when Alabama A&M visits. The contest against the crosstown foe is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
