UAH Earns Series Win with 13-7 Victory Saturday at MC

CLINTON, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team picked up the Gulf South Conference series win with an 13-7 victory over Mississippi College on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the three-game set. UAH improves to 20-21 (13-14 GSC), while MC dips to 16-22 (12-14 GSC).

Game-Changer
- After Mississippi College drew within two at 9-7, UAH pulled ahead to 11-7 with an infield RBI single by Ben Rhodes and a sac fly by Nolan Ramsey to earn the GSC series win and the 13-7 victory.

Inside the Box Score
- UAH started the scoring in the top of the first on a two-RBI single by Ramsey, which was quickly negated in the bottom of the first on a three-run inning by the Choctaws to lead 3-2.
- Ramsey delivered another go-ahead base hit in the top of the third on a two-RBI double to left, but MC responded yet again with two runs over its own to retake the lead at 5-4.
- The Chargers plated one run in the fourth in addition to two runs in the fifth and sixth innings – highlighted by a solo home run by Justin Ware – to own a 9-5.
- Mississippi College drew closer at a 9-7 deficit with one run in the sixth and seventh innings, but two runs by UAH in the eighth and a two-run homer in the ninth by Wright Hackett provided the Chargers with the 13-7 victory.
- UAH totaled 14 base hits in the win, led by Rhodes and Ramsey with three hits each.
- Ware scored a game-high four runs, while Ramsey drove in a team-high five runs.
- Tanner Burns, Rhodes and Ware drew two walks each in the game.
- In his first starting performance of the season, sophomore Taylor Clemons notched the win to improve to 3-2 on the year after tossing 6.0 innings with six earned runs allowed and six strikeouts.
- Gabe Gunter notched the save after hurling the final 3.0 innings with zero runs allowed and one strikeout.

Noteworthy
- Ramsey's five RBI are career-high and ties AJ Walden for the most in a game as Walden had five RBI against Shorter on March 25.
- Ware's four runs marks the third time a Charger has scored four times in a game.
- UAH has at least one stolen in seven straight games.
- Gunter's save was the first of his career.

Next Time Out
- UAH wraps up the home regular season slate next weekend as Union visits Charger Park for a three-game GSC series on April 22-23.
