WRAPPING UP THE HOME SLATE: The No. 17 UAH softball team will conclude the regular season slate of home games this week as the Chargers will step out of the conference for the last time by hosting Auburn Montgomery for a doubleheader at 4 p.m. on Thursday before welcoming Union for a three-game set that starts with a doubleheader on Saturday and concludes with a single game on Sunday with action scheduled to start at 1 p.m. UAH enters the five-game stretch at 32-13 (18-9 Gulf South Conference).

AROUND THE GSC: With two weeks remaining in the conference schedule, six teams are within two games of first place in the conference. West Florida leads the way at 19-8, while UAH, Valdosta State, Lee, and Mississippi College are all tied for second at 18-9. North Alabama is sixth at 17-10, and both Shorter and West Georgia are tied for seventh at 13-14.

RANKINGS UPDATE: UAH checks in at No. 17 in this week's edition of the NFCA Division II Softball Coaches Poll, and the Chargers are tied with Caldwell for that spot. Valdosta State fell out of the poll this week, but the GSC still has two representatives in the rankings as West Florida climbs in at No. 25. Mississippi College is receiving votes.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK: UAH went on the road to MC last week and dropped the opener 4-0 and then fell in the bottom of the seventh by a 1-0 score in the middle game of the three-game set, but the Chargers bounced back to end the series on a positive note with a 9-2 win.

SENIOR SEND-OFF: This weekend's contests will mark the final regular season games at Charger Park for seven seniors: Kaitlyn Bannister, Taylor Doriety, Emily Glover, Tyler Harrison, Sarah Jordan, Haley Thompson, and Bridgette Wilson. During the group's time in Huntsville, the Chargers have amassed 160 wins including 77 at Charger Park, reached three NCAA tournaments, and hosted an NCAA South Super Regional.

UNSELFISH CHARGERS: UAH leads the GSC on the season in sacrifice hits with 51 as 10 different Chargers have multiple sac bunts, and Ashley Cornell is tied for first in the conference with 12. Taylor Wascavage, Erin Jewell and Thompson are all tied for second on the team as each has recorded six.

ABOUT AUBURN MONTGOMERY: AUM visits the Rocket City with an overall mark of 22-17, and the visit will be the first of many to come as the school is beginning the transition process to become a member of Division II and the GSC. Kalee Sparks is batting a team-high .400 on the season, while Jaycie Walker has driven in 29 runs to lead the team in run production. The pitching staff owns an overall 2.86 ERA with Taylor Tiffany striking out a team-best 83 on the season.

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers are 2-0 all-time against AUM.

ABOUT UNION: The Bulldogs enter play this week at 23-24 overall and 7-20 in conference play after being swept by UNA a week ago. Ashley Scott sits at the top of the Union offensive ledger with a .404 average and 43 RBI, while Hannah Ridolfi is 12-9 in the circle with a team-high 74 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY: UAH owns a 10-1 mark against the Bulldogs after sweeping the season series last year in Jackson when Bannister drove in 20 runs during the weekend. When the two programs met last in Huntsville in the 2015 season, the teams split the doubleheader before UAH earned a walk-off win in eight innings in the series finale.
